Hi! I think you are expecting to show the whole component in the module, but it isn't what is has been made for. The module is supossed to work with the component Joomla Web Messenger, so if you want to show just the contact list in any module position. First, you should create a link to the component. From the component you can log in to your msn account and then, all your contacts will appear on the module. You can see the component in your site with the URL: http://ukgameplayers.com/index.php?option=com_jwebmessengerRegards, Raśl

Ok ... thanks for the info. HOWEVER.......
What do you put in the "Personal Message" - Something like, a greeting?
BUT.....When typing something just above the button called Send Message, the send button, isnt active, so you cant "send" anything?
Do i need to chmod any folders or files?....
Have you tried using this component from my site?...if so, did it work, because it doesnt for me.
Are there any other tips you can give please?

By the way, you mention that "From the component you can log in to your msn account and then, all your contacts will appear on the module"
Well....I dont have this function available, or at least, I cant see it. Does it matter that I am already logged into MSN messenger?

What do you put in the "Personal Message" - Something like, a greeting? Yes. People use to write a quote they like, a greeting, etc.
Do i need to chmod any folders or files?.... No, you don't.
When typing something just above the button called Send Message, the send button, isnt active, so you cant "send" anything? The "Send" button will be active when you have an active conversation. You can active a conversation by clicking on a contact name from the contact list, and then , clicking again from the "Active conversations" area. You cannot see your contacts because is a very narrow column on which it is placed. So you cannot click on them. Follow this steps: 1.-Disable the module Joomla Web Messenger Contact List 2.-From the admin backend, check "Show Contacts List", and then loggin on your msn account from the front end. You will see your contacts in the main body of the site.
Once you've done that you can click on the contacts to add them to the active conversations. To toggle between conversations just click on their names in the Active Conversations area.
Hope it helps, Regards, Raśl.

Re:Not showing 9 Months ago

I entered in the URL http://ukgameplayers.com/index.php?option=com_jwebmessengerand I logged in to my msn account. Now I can see my contacts, as you checked the "Show Contact List" and it seems to be working as it should. I even chatted with a friend of mine from your site! If you dont see the login box is probably because you are already logged in. Try deleting the cookies from your browser and start again the log in. Or try accessing your site from another browser and you'll see the log in box. Well, I'll try to be clear, what you see is not a tipical log in formular. What is shown is a button to Sign In, and then a new window is opened(the microsoft gateway). Maybe your browser is blocking that window?? For me, the component is working fine! Good luck and do not hesitate to tell here your results / problems Regards, Raśl.

Ups, I forgot to leave it in Spanish. The download has been updated to english here Joomla Web MessengerAnyway, you can choose your language by changing the last parameter 'en' to the selected language code. This line is on the file jwebmessenger.html.php, line 39. | Code: : | _signin = new Microsoft.Live.Messenger.UI.SignInControl('signinframe', privUrl, chanUrl, 'en');

Re:Not showing 8 Months, 2 Weeks ago

Hey Raul -
I looked at your position here on the installation of Joomla web messanger and I was able to successfully do that in Joomla 1.5
I can also see the component in the backend and have done the necessary configurations too and created a link to the component on my joomla website. However this renders an empty page.
What am I to do from here on? I read the thread but its still confusing. Could you give me a step-by-step on what needs to be done so that I can incorporate MSN web messanger into my joomla site?
Thx
Farid

I also installed the component and the module, looked at the settings (made no changes) added a menu-item en was hopefully clicking on the frontsite. Nothing happenes, I too get a blank page in the mainpart of the site?
I run my site as local testsite with Wamp, could that be the problem?
Setting: PHP 5.2.5 SQL 5.0.51a Joomla 1.5.3

I think I solved it by changing jwebmessenger.php. After this alteration the messenger showed itself in front.

OK, no code or quote with php-code allowed.... too bad. Even php-code as text is not allowed.
