sending content doesn't quite work - RESOLVED 3 Months ago
I tried sending content over to a remote Joomla site but it's not showing. I've follwed all the steps in the past blogs, checked permissions, query.txt and wrapperMySql.php being copied, can connect to the remote SQL database. I can't even see the new categories on the remote site.

Any ideas as to why this is?

I've uninstalled and reinstalled from scratch (formated both server) 5 times and it doesn't work. I know it can work based on other users claiming it can. Am I missing something?

For those of you wondering why the content is not being sent to the remote site, I've figured out why.

Before creating your remote site, you need to edit the wrapperMYSQL.php file. On the very top line (header), "php" is missing after the question mark. Once you've saved the changes, create your remote site. Test sending content remotely. This should now work.

Hi,

I edited the php file in the remote site, but it still didn't work.

Do I need to delete the remote, remake remote, edit php file before I try to transfer data?

Where does the wrappermysql php file reside before you create the remote site? Or.....?

Thanks,
Carl

Hi Carl,

I've written out some steps into getting this to work:

1. On your host site, go to sites and delete the remote configuration.
2. On your remote site, delete the query.txt and wrapperMYSQL.php file where your joomla website is
located.
3. Edit the wrapperMYSQL.php with the "php" as noted in my previous message.
4. On the host site, recreate the remote site to get a new copy of wrapperMYSQL.php to your remote
site.
5. Test it out and hopefully this solves the problem.

Question:

On your wrapperMYSQL.php file, was there was "php" listed on the top line?

No, it did not.

I found a file, wrapperMySQL, in my host site under com_multip. It doesn't have php after the question mark, just appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Carl

Sorry I forgot to tell you where it was on your host site. If it doesn't have the "php" then after editing the file to you should be all set, once you've recreated the site.

Well, I misclicked and deleted the wrapper file from my host not remote. I uninstalled the component and re-installed. When I looked in my host files to edit the wrapper file, nothing is listed in the com_multip folder. Therefore nothing to edit.

I am going to delete the two Joomla sites and rebuild. I have two Joomla installations on the site hosting service and on the same server. It shouldn't be that much of a problem.

I'll let you know.

Thanks,
Carl

Hi,

I created the new sites then added the com_multip to the host site.

I edited the wrapperMYSQL.php file in the administrator/components/com_multip to include the php text. (This is where I find the query.txt file, not on the remote site. Should I have deleted it?)

I created the site using the component in the host site.

I created a category and an article. I published the content to the remote site.

Everything indicated that it was OK, a successful publish.

But nothing shows in the remote site after publishing. No errors, no nothing.

Stumped.

OK.

I created another 1.5 Joomla site on another server.

On the host, I removed the ioncube files and then transferred the files to /public_html/ioncube. I used the file for Linux X86-64. Nothing else done to the upload of ioncube.

On the host, Joomla in in /public_html/testsite. I uninstalled the com_multip then re-installed and edited the wrapperMYSQL.php file located in the administrator/components/com_multip folder to include php in the header line after the question mark.

On the remote site, the query.txt and the wrapperMYSQL.php files were deleted.

On the host site, the site was created. Status OK for the remote site.

Content from host site chosen and content sent. Status indicates everything is successful.

The content is not on the remote site.

Where am I missing a step?

Help.

Thanks, Carl

I added the php to the file, but I am still not able to publish content.

I've also noticed that the remote site passes the database site check no matter what database connection information I use. It even worked if I use remote a database host name that can't possibly exist or remove the database user name.
